This 18-level program is designed to support swimmers from their first time in the water until they are ready to move on to the life-saving society leadership programs. They are not only taught all of the strokes but they are taught safety and lifesaving skills along the way. By the end of the program, they will be safe and competent swimmers.
Atlantis Swim Level 1 - This beginner level is an introduction to the water. The focus is on getting in the water, and learning how to blow bubbles and starts to encourage students to get their eyes wet. Students are introduced to front and back floats, as well as moving through the water on the front and back, as well as kicks on both front and back. All skills are assisted and the goal is to build comfort in the water.
Atlantis Swim Level 2 - This beginner level focuses on getting comfortable with blowing bubbles and getting their eyes/face wet. Students work on front and back floats, and front and back kicks and continue and start working on slip-ins into shallow water. All skills are assisted and students work on building confidence in and around the water.
Atlantis Swim Level 3 - These swimmers are comfortable getting their faces wet and are beginning to attempt full submersions. The focus is on mastering slip-ins to shallow water unassisted and jumping into shallow water with some assistance. They continue to practice front floats, glides, and swims with their face in the water, and back floats and kicks.
Atlantis Swim Level 4 - These swimmers are comfortable getting their face wet and with full submersion. The focus is on introducing front floats, glide and front swim without help. Back floats and kicks are still assisted.
Atlantis Swim Level 5 - These advanced beginner swimmers can float on both the front and back by themselves and jump in without help. The focus is now on swimming 3-5 metres on both the front and the back without any assistance.
Atlantis Swim Level 6 - These advanced beginner swimmers can float on both the front and back by themselves and jump in without help. The focus is now on swimming 3-5 metres on both the front and the back without any assistance. They are also introduced to roll-over floats and glides.
Atlantis Swim Level 7 - These swimmers are swimming fully unassisted for a minimum of 7 metres on both the front and the back. They can roll from the front to the back. These swimmers transition all skills to deeper water and are introduced to side glide and kneeling dives.
Atlantis Swim Level 8 -These swimmers can swim for 15 metres on both the front and the back. The focus is now on front crawl development with a side breath bilaterally. These swimmers can tread water and are introduced to diving.
Atlantis Swim Level 9 - These swimmers continue to master their front glide and crawl with bilateral breaths. They can dive and tread and are introduced to both back crawl and dolphin kick.
Atlantis Swim Level 10 - Front and back crawl technique development and increased distance are the focus for this level. These swimmers are introduced to sculling and continue to master dolphin kick.
Atlantis Swim Level 11 - These swimmers can work on their front and back crawl technique and their dolphin kick. They can dive and tread for at least 1 minute and are introduced to whip kick on the back.
Atlantis Swim Level 12 - These swimmers can swim 35 metres or more of front and back crawl. They can dive and tread water for at least 90 seconds. These swimmers are introduced to butterfly and foot-first sculling on the back and continue to work on whip kick on the back.
Atlantis Swim Level 13 - These swimmers can swim at least 50 metres of front and back crawl. They can dive and tread water for 2 minutes. These swimmers are introduced to whip kick on the front and continue to work on whip kick on the back and butterfly.
Atlantis Swim Level 14 - These swimmers can swim at least 200 metres. Front and back crawl, whip kick on the back and front, and butterfly. They can trend for 2.5 minutes and are introduced to the breaststroke arms.
Atlantis Swim Level 15 - These swimmers are swimming 300 meters, treading for 3 minutes and continue to build on their lifesaving entries. They swim front and back crawl, whip kick on the back and front and are introduced to breaststroke.
Atlantis Swim Level 16 - These swimmers continue to master their technique and master some fitness activities. They can swim 400 meters and tread water for at least 3 minutes and eggbeater for 1 minute, they can continue to master their front and back crawl, whip kick on the back, breaststroke and are introduced to scissor kick.
Atlantis Swim Level 17 - These swimmers are advanced and can swim 450 meters, eggbeater for 2 minutes and are introduced to head-first surface dives and travelling eggbeater. They can swim front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, whip kick on the back, butterfly, scissor kick and are introduced to sidestroke.
Atlantis Swim Level 18 - These advanced swimmers are now strong and capable. They can swim 500 meters, complete head and foot first surface dives, stationary eggbeater for 3 minutes and travelling eggbeater for at least 2 minutes. These swimmers can swim 100 meters of front crawl, back crawl, whip kick on the back, breaststroke and 50 meters of butterfly and sidestroke.
